July 28, 1939 – August 17, 2018
We announce with deep sadness the passing of Anna May Mah. She is survived by her two sons, Brian & Gary; her siblings Rosalie, Patricia, Robert, Jean, and Franklin, and a large extended family -- who all dearly love and deeply miss her. She joins her husband of 30 years, Bing; her parents, Arthur & Lily; and her sister, Mary, all who predeceased her. Anna May was the best mom, wife, sister and aunt anyone could wish for. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.
Anna May was born in Saskatchewan and grew up in Lake Alma and Regina. She married Bing in 1962 and they settled in Alberta. In 1972, they relocated to the west coast; first in Port Coquitlam, where they owned a general store, and later Burnaby where both were realtors.
Anna May had a big and gentle heart. She enjoyed cooking, baking, travelling the world, and spending time with family. Throughout her retirement, she spent summers in Saskatchewan selflessly caring for her aging parents.
Throughout a courageous 19 year fight with breast cancer – with multiple remissions, complications and disabilities – she maintained a strong and happy outlook. Her warm smile, kindness, and love will always be remembered.
The family greatly appreciates and thanks the staff at Royal Columbian Hospital chemo clinic for their kindness and loving care. We expressly thank Dr. Michael Noble, the chemo nurses, unit clerks, and pharmacist Jenifer Wan. We also thank her family doctor Dr. Geoffery Killick, physiotherapist Michelle Burt, and home care worker Anita Chiminello.
A memorial service will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby on September 15, 2018 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
