In loving memory of our beloved mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who passed away peacefully at home on August 24th, 2023 with all her family by her side. A funeral service will be held on September 9th, 2023 from 12:20 pm to 2:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. Canada.
Annie was born in Toishan (Taishan), Guangdong (Canton) Province, China. She grew up during the Japanese invasion and occupation of China, between 1937 and 1945, with great hardship. She survived significant adversity and eventually graduated as a delivery nurse from Guangdong Dongshan regional hospital, Guangdong Province, China.
Annie married our beloved father and grandfather, Pak Wo (Jack) Ma, in 1960s. They moved to Hong Kong from Toishan during the Chinese Revolution. In Hong Kong, Annie and Jack operated a successful garment factory while raising two young sons. The family lived in Hong Kong for a few years until they decided to immigrate to Vancouver in the 1970s. In Vancouver, Jack unfortunately passed away shortly after immigrating. Annie, as a tenacious widow, worked tirelessly every day to raise her two sons.
Annie raised two loving sons who grew up to be successful business owners. As their families grew, Annie enjoyed travelling around the world, talking to her relatives abroad, going to dim sum with her family, playing Mahjong with her friends and watching TV and playing video games with her grandchildren. She always had a smile on her face so long as the family was together even if the tasks were as simple as washing dishes or brushing their teeth.
Annie leaves behind a legacy that extends through generations. She is the proud mother of two children (Motor and Frank), their spouses (Lan and Nelly) and three grandchildren (Mateo, Max and Melody). Her nurturing spirit and guidance have helped shape their lives and families, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Annie loved and cherished her children and grandchildren greatly. She lived with them throughout her life. They cared for her greatly and will forever remember and cherish the memories of their time together. Annie’s influence will continue to resonate throughout their lives.
Though she may be gone from our sight, Annie’s spirit will forever remain in the loving memories of those who she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal rest in the arms of The Lord, and may her legacy continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
In the midst of our grief, we find comfort in the knowledge that she has been reunited with her husband, Jack Ma, in the embrace of eternity with The Lord.
