D in 2021 shortly before passing away. He is dearly missed by his colleagues and professors who will always remember him for his positive attitude and work ethic regardless of his circumstances.

He spent down time catching up on Chinese soap operas with his two youngest children.
Bernie is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his children Rhonda, Linda, Tina, Anita, Brian, and his beloved grand-dogs.
Bernie is also survived by his mother, sister, brothers, and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Nang Hong, whom he loved and missed dearly.
