Bertta Irene Surakka was born on May 31, 1926, in Kauhava Finland and passed away peacefully in Vancouver, BC, on December 6, 2025.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alvi Surakka, her son Andy Surakka, grandson Jeremie Fontaine, and four sisters in Finland.
She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter Sirpa Voutilainen (Vesa), son Larry Surakka (Linda), and her sister in Finland Pirkko Salo (Antti).
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shawn Surakka, Sherisse Hamby (Rob), Jenny Voutilainen, Ryan Voutilainen (Colin), Kristofer Voutilainen (Trisha), Kyle Voutilainen (Leanne), Nicholas Surakka, Ryan Surakka, and Chantel Surakka. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Shyanne & Daytona Hamby, Kyden Surakka, Brynn & Koen Voutilainen, and Braylon & Lincoln Voutilainen.
She will be fondly remembered by many friends and relatives in Finland and beyond.
