Mrs. Bozena Voorneveld

VOORNEVELD, Bozena “Boba” Maria (nee Kos): passed away peacefully in Burnaby, BC on February 27th, 2022 at the age of 74. Bozena will be lovingly missed and remembered by her beloved children Alan (Jennifer) Mileta of Burnaby, BC and Suzan (Scott) Field of Sylvania, NSW Australia; beloved grandchildren Faythe Mileta and Mitchell & Madison Field; beloved sister-n-law Vera Kos and nephews Mario, Dean & Mladen Kos of Sweden as well as many other loved ones and friends.

Bozena was proceeded in death by her husband, Herman, her parents, her brothers and sister as well as one nephew.

The service will be held privately for the family and in lieu of flowers, donations in Bozena’s name may be made to a charity of your choice. An electronic message of condolence may be left for the family to see at www.forestlawn-burnaby.com.

Bozena was born on March 2, 1947 in Zagreb, Croatia to Stjepan & Saveta (Grkovic) Kos. In 1967 she moved to Canada with her husband, Zeljko Mileta. She came to a new country without being able to read, write or speak the language but adapted quickly. She loved to sew and worked for many years as a seamstress, worked in the clothing industry (retail) and was also a restaurant hostess. She was a very hard worker.

She was a fashion icon to her family as she was always dressed to the nines in fancy clothes and jewelry. Her signature hounds tooth outfits, hats, different hair colours and jewelry will be a fond memory to her family for years to come.

Bozena was a beautiful, fiery Croatian woman who loved her family intensely. She was determined, strong, courageous and resourceful (even if she didn’t think so). She was funny with a wicked sense of humour and was never shy to say how she felt with no filter. She loved a good time, robust argument, crosswords, romance novels, and any kind of cake (especially Black Forest). Bozena was always there if you needed her help or advice and loved to tell stories of her family. She was a generous, loyal friend who would give the shirt off her back if it was needed. She also loved to cook and we will miss her palacinke (crepes) as well as her pork roast & creamed spinach. We will all miss her tremendously.
