It is with heavy hearts that we announce Carey's sudden passing at 53 years of age. A proud father and devoted husband, Carey leaves behind his wife Ann, and his precious daughter Katie, the absolute light of his life. His kind, gentle, fun loving nature and sense of humour will be deeply missed. Predeceased by his father Ken, Carey also leaves behind his mother Edna, brothers Rick (Marilyn), Greg (Liz), and Gene. He also leaves many nephews and nieces who will miss his adventurous, childlike spirit. Carey was born and raised in Kimberley, BC where he developed a love for mountains and the outdoors. His favourite childhood memories included skiing at North Star, hiking in the St. Mary's Valley, and playing basketball, bocci and rugby. Carey worked as a Bodyman for Coast Mountain Bus Company in Burnaby for the last 21 years. Known to his colleagues as the guy to go to if you needed help, Carey was an outstanding craftsman and tradesman. He loved kayaking, rock climbing, drawing, painting and being with family. His most treasured moments were building things with Katie. Their many sandcastles, beach forts and rock castles will continue standing in all of our hearts. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of choice. A family service will be held in Victoria. A celebration of life will follow at a later date in Vancouver.
