My fondest memories of visiting the Lombardese house are with a robust version of wrestling acted out with Stevie and Mauro shirtless replaying the stunts in the living room. After Steve and Mauro moved out, the only thing that changed was their absence. What I mean is that even during the December obligatory visit sitting in the kitchen, the TV still blared the entertainment form of adult wrestling. Without any exaggeration whatsoever I recently visited Comare in her last home as my sister Elsa was in hospital across the street. The kids and I weren't sure which room Comare was in  but we could hear a television on as we walked down the hallway. It was no mistake. As we approached the room I knew we were at the right place, like a bloodhound following a scent  only the telling sense for me was my ears.
We rounded the corner to find my beautiful Comare with her hair recently coiffed and her lipstick on, watching and listening to an excited announcer basking in the joy of the latest masked wrestler at his peak. 
Comare I can only imagine your willingness and desire to be with Compare Virgilio again and I suppose it's even possible that you run across some of your other shirtless heroes. 

The Picillo's will of course miss you dearly and my children will always remember coming to see you  especially Anthony from the time Compare took Anthony's toralli dipped it in a glass of dark red wine and told him to eat it cause it was good!

My immediate memories of Zia Carmela brings me back to childhood, when our families got together with Zio Virgilio - our gatherings were so lively and quite fun!   Zia Carmela had a creative spirit that came out in her cooking - the best pizza!   I appreciated her sensitivity, in the way she extended herself with an open heart and how she cared for others.  She will be missed.

I am so sad to hear of Carmela’s passing. 
Carmela lived near my mom (Pierina) and they would often call each other and meet for a walk around the neighbourhood.  My mom would always look forward to their walks.  She was very sad when Carmela was placed in a care home but shortly after my mom too was admitted to a home due to her dementia.
