October 22, 1921 – June 30, 2014
Cecilia was called to her Lord after a brief illness on June 30, 2014. Born in Krasne, Poland, she travelled across the ocean to Quebec City in 1951 with her loving husband Hellmut (pre-deceased in 1990) and two young sons, eldest son Wilhelm (pre-deceased in 1996) and youngest son John of Surrey, B.C. Moving to Vancouver a few years later, Cecilia and Hellmut worked hard together making a comfortable home for their family. She was proud to become a Canadian citizen in 1957. Cecilia was truly a self-driven entrepreneur. She was a talented creative artist that could turn her canvasses into beautiful, breathtaking scenes of mountains and rivers. Her favourite, admired by so many, were paintings of bouquets of colourful roses, each petal so perfectly created. Her love of flowers and trees in bloom inspired her to create beautiful Dogwood fashion jewelry which she would make by hand, bending wire, hand-dipping each petal and carefully adding her own artistic touch with the stroke of her brush. She was so very proud of her sons Wilhelm (Bill) and Johannes (John) and would often reminisce about stories of their youth and how they worked hard with their father in his masonry business and together they had a solid foundation. Cecilia loved life, ice-cream cones, hot dogs, cooking for family and friends, and relaxing at Harrison Hot Springs and her cabin in Point Roberts. Being surrounded by her grandchildren brought a smile to her face and a warmth to her heart. She will be greatly missed by her loving son, John (Bonnie); daughter-in-law, Karen; grandson, Wilhelm (Dawn); granddaughters, Jamie (Sean) and Joelle (Neil); and great-grandchildren, Nola, Memphis, River and Grace. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC.
We will miss you Mom, Grandma, Oma, Cecilia, Cilli - but we know you are in the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord who is watching over you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
