Chung Sum Chow

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chung Sum(Sam) Chow. Sam was born in Pon Yue District of Guangzhou City, Guangdong China. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Leen. Children Doug(Marion), David(Sally) and Jenny(Derwin). Grandchildren Brian, Kevin(Ashley), Courtney(David), Lauren and Maddox. Great grandchildren Chloe, Sophia and Hayden. Predeceased by daughter Darlene.

Sam and his wife Leen was one of the Burnaby Farmers, supplying fresh produce to Safeway, Save On, Real Canadian Superstore and other wholesalers. Working long hours during the farming season, 7 days a week. He farmed for 35 years before retiring at the end of 1993.

Sam travelled extensively after retirement with wife Leen including trips back to China. They have cruised to the Mediterranean, British Isles, Baltic, Far East Asia, South America, Caribbean, Panama Canal, East Coast Canada/USA, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico, California Coast and Alaska.

Sam loved to fish, going to casinos, family dinners, daily Starbuck coffee with his friends at the food court in Metrotown and most of all spending time with his family.

Sam will be missed for his story telling, strong opinions, big cheerful personality and willingness to help family and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. T. Ho, Dr. S.S. Lam and Dr. J. Kong for their care and support of Sam and our family. Also a deep appreciation to the Fraser Health Support Workers for their care and support when Sam was at home. Lastly, thank all the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Royal Columbian Hospital.

As Sam would always say, Thank you very much!
