With profound sorrow and boundless love, we announce the passing of Dolores Cardarelli, who left this world peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Civitanova del Sannio, Italy, on February 9, 1938, Dolores brought with her the rich traditions, values, and warmth of her homeland. She wove these into the fabric of her life in Canada, becoming the heart of her family and a source of strength, deep faith, and unconditional love.
Dolores was the beloved wife of Antonio Cardarelli, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, having wed on November 9, 1957. Together, they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her children, Cenzina (Thomas) and Elio (Donell); her cherished grandchildren, Tania (Matt), Melissa (Chris), Jake (Stacy), and Cassandra (Selena); and her adored great-grandchildren, Kiara, Preston, Easton, Colby, Brynlee, Antonio, Dallan and Phoenix.
She is survived by her loving husband Antonio, her sister Mariella (Santo), and her sister-in-law Maria Paladino.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nicola and Lucia Paladino, and her brothers Antonio, Michele, and Giuseppe.
In honour of Dolores, the family encourages you to gather with your loved ones, share a meal, and carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and deep familial love.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care Unit at Burnaby General Hospital, as well as to Nella Viani and the Jagore family for their continued friendship and support.
A Catholic Prayer Service will be offered at 7:00pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at St. Helen's Parish, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Helen's Parish with entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park - South Mausoleum.
Rest in peace, Dolores. You were the heart of our family. Your love, faith, and spirit will live on forever.
