

Earl Ben Lim, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep August 1, 2012 at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. Ben was born November 9, 1927 in Vancouver to mother Wong Kan Chee and father Lim Dack Chu. At the age of 7 months, he was sent to China following the death of his mother where he was raised by his stepmother Quon Choy Fong and introduced to his 2 half brothers and half sister. Ben returned to Vancouver in 1947 where he started a new life and eventually started his own family. Ben was committed to his family and always placed their needs over his own. He also possessed a strong work ethic and worked tirelessly for many years in the grocery business. In his retirement, Ben was actively involved with the Lim Sai Hor (Kow Mock) Benevolent Association volunteering his time as secretary and treasurer, and on special projects. Ben is survived by his wife of 46 years Wai Chun, son Vincent Lim, daughter Jerian and her husband Colin Reynolds, and two grandchildren Oliver and Sabrina Reynolds. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 12 at The Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby. The Interment will follow the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in the section, "Courtyard Estates", in Forest Lawn's Memorial Park. Light refreshments will be served in the Tea Lounge of the Funeral Home following the burial. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Tapestry Foundation for Health Care for Mount Saint Joseph Hospital in the memory of Earl Ben Lim.
