Elfriede came to Canada with her family around 1950 and met her future husband, Gustav, in Vancouver (she liked his car). Elfriede was the homemaker while Gus worked at a lumber mill. Together they were self-reliant and always had a well maintained yard, a large vegetable garden, and a spotless house.
Elfriede was a fiercely gentle woman who was happiest when her family was together. In her strongly quiet way, Elfriede, with her late husband Gus, hosted many celebrations and feasts for the large extended family. Her grandchildren Amber and Heather, and grand-niece/nephew Nova and Quinn brought so much joy to her life and she showered them with affection and delicious food.
Elfriede was a courageous and independent woman who touched many lives and she will be deeply missed by sons Andrew (Verna) and Hilmar (Kathy), grandchildren Amber and Heather, niece-in-law Brenda (Ich) and her children Quinn and Nova.
A graveside service will be held June 16 at 11am at Ocean View Burial Park.
