

A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, aunt, and sister whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Her love and legacy will be forever etched in our hearts.
Born in Pedreira do Nordeste, Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal, Elisa was one of nine siblings, including her identical twin. Newly married, she immigrated to Canada in 1962, residing first in Kingston, Ontario then in Vancouver B.C. and eventually settling in Richmond B.C. where she lived for more than 50 years.
Elisa was predeceased by her loving husband, John F. Cabral (2016), and her parents, Manuel Cabral de Melo (1980) and Maria de Lourdes Pacheco de Melo (2003).
Elisa's life was centered around her faith and her family. She cherished lively family gatherings filled with laughter and love. Her joys were simple, cooking traditional Portuguese dishes, tending to her vibrant flower garden, and exploring the world with her husband. Together, they created countless cherished memories.
Elisa is survived by her children: Goretti (Stuart) Day, Amelia (Dave) Petrunia, Suzanne St. Germain, Dimas (Heather) Cabral, and Danny (Susie) Cabral; her grandchildren: Christina (Derek), Stephanie (Owen), Vanessa, Melissa (Jordan), Ashleigh, Talia, Kyra (Brendan), Elijah, Jericho, Austin, Adrianna, Aidan, and Kyla; her four great-grandchildren: Sophie, Grace, Jack, and Arason; and her brothers and sisters in Fall River Massachusetts, Rita (John) Santos, Paulina (Antonio) Teixeira, Celeste DeMelo, Fatinha (Keld) Olssen, in Fairhaven Massachusetts, John (Fatima) Mello in Florida, Silverio (Zelia) DeMelo, of the Azores and many nieces & nephews; Predeceased by her twin sister Delfina (Antero) Cabral and her brother Miguel DeMelo.
A Catholic Burial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish (1423 E. 13 Avenue, Vancouver, BC).
The funeral mass will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by interment at Ocean View Burial Park (Garden of Hope, Burnaby, BC).
A Celebration of Life will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall.
For those wishing to attend there will be an open casket viewing (9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.), followed by the Rosary Prayer in Portuguese (10 a.m.)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elisa's memory to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Heron Hospice Society of Delta
