Filomena "Mena" Alfier

Born on January 5, 1923 in Bari, Italy, she immigrated to Canada in 1960 with her then husband (late Milan) and daughter Augusta. They settled in Trail, BC where her twin sons were born (Jerko and Dario). They later moved to Vancouver. She is survived by her three children, Augusta, Jerko, Dario; grandchildren Sonja, Joanna, Amanda, Jordan, Paige, Nathan and one on the way; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Kyion II, Kaiden and Skyile. Filomena is also survived by a sister, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews in Australia, also family in the USA and in Trieste, Italy.

Filomena is best remembered as a kind, loving and gracious mother to her children and a wonderful friend to many. She is also remembered for being an outstanding cook and a hard worker. She was the best and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and nurses at VGH for all their efforts and Kopernik Lodge staff for all the exceptional care and kindness they provided Filomena in the last three years of her life.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver on Wednesday, November 25 at 10:00 am followed by an entombment at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
