It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt, Francesca Caravaggio. Francesca fought a brave battle with brain cancer and left the world peacefully on January 19, 2026, after many friends and family members visited and held her hand. Francesca was born on February 11, 1941, in Rocca San Giovanni, Abruzzo, Italy where she married her husband Florindo prior to immigrating to Canada in 1957. Francesca truly enjoyed being a homemaker along with providing much support to her husband with the endless tasks associated with his property ownership and management business. Francesca was very social and adored hosting friends and family for many delicious home cooked meals that were made with generosity and an abundance of love. The door was always open at Francesca’s home! Aside from entertaining, Francesca’s had many other interests including gardening, swimming, sewing, needlework and travelling. Together with her husband, she took many trips to Mexico as well as Italy, Argentina, Brazil and a very special journey to the Holy Land. Francesca leaves behind many nieces, nephews and godchildren all of whom she cherished spending time with. She is predeceased by her parents, Enrico and Lucia Moretti and her loving husband, Florindo; as well as her dear brothers Mario (Gina) and Italino (Giovina); and sisters Concetta (Vito) and Genesia (Galliano).
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation. A special thank you goes out to all the staff at Westminster House who took exceptional care of all of her health needs while she resided there and Zinny Ezinwanne, her caring companion who comforted and was steadily by her side her for the last number of months.
