Dr. Francis Cho-Feng Ling

Dr. Francis Cho-Feng Ling passed away peacefully on June 24, 2019, at the Vancouver General Hospital, with his family by his side. He was loved by his wife of 66 years, Vivian, his children, Joyce (Donald Shuen), Douglas (Neah), and four wonderful grandchildren, Collin, Alexander, Emma, and Brendan. Francis was born on October 22nd, 1923, in Shanghai, to Dr. Lansing Ling and Su-Duan Chen. The youngest of 6 siblings, he was preceded by his parents, brothers James, Davis, Charles, Jordon, and sister, Vee.

Dr. Ling was a beloved OB-GYN doctor in Hong Kong, having practiced privately for nearly 50 years, and delivered tens of thousands of new lives into this world - many at the St. Teresa’s and Precious Blood (Caritas) Hospitals in Kowloon. He was a graduate (1949) of the St John’s University and the Shanghai Medical College. He first came to Canada to complete his residency at Ottawa Civic Hospital (1955-1957), and later returned to Vancouver to gain his Canadian Citizenship and start a medical practice in 1976. He returned to Hong Kong in 1980 and remained there 6 more years after he retired from his illustrious medical career in 2005. A private memorial service will be held at the Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby, BC.
