Thomas George Fontaine, of Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 4, 1938, in Vancouver, George lived a full and hardworking life, building a legacy of dedication, faith, and love.
George was a devoted husband to his wife, Darlene, and a proud father to his two sons, Danny (Kim) and Darren (Patti). He was cherished as “Dad” and “Grandpa” by his grandchildren, Samantha and Corey, and adored by his great-grandchildren, Maya, Kayla, and Emily. Family was at the center of George’s life, and his love for them was unwavering.
Over the years, George worked in many trades — as a logger, truck driver, longshoreman, and entrepreneur when he ran his own business. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, George enjoyed life to the fullest. He could often be found at the racetrack, trying his luck at the casino, or most importantly, attending church. A devoted Catholic with a generous heart, George lived his faith daily, always ready to help and encourage those around him.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, his big heart, and the way he could make everyone feel welcome. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate George’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 330 Royal Avenue, New Westminster, BC.
