George Maeda was born on July 8, 1932, the youngest of seven children. Sadly, he passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 93 years, in Richmond, BC. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Ritsuko Madeline Maeda (Kuramoto), his two brothers and four sisters. He leaves surviving him many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. During his working years, George held various jobs which included, working in the fishing industry, at an upholstery business, and as a gardener at Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver. George enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family members - his brothers and nephew, brothers-in-law and father-in-law. He also kept an immaculate yard and garden at his home. One of his favourite things in the garden was a cherry tree, and during cherry picking season, all the little ones had little buckets that they filled with cherries and vegetables that they happily took home. He was a kind and generous man and will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you to Dr. Adam Chang and all the staff and caregivers at Minoru Residence for their care, compassion and support.
