Gerald (Gerry) passed away peacefully on December, 3, 2023 at the age of 78 years. He was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Michelena, his brothers Morley and Zenen. Gerry is survived by his loving family, wife of 55 years, Angela; children Carla (Johnny), Andre (Jaspal); grandchildren Mia, Jenna, Joya; brother Orest (Karen), sister Wilma (Doug) and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Gerry was a loving husband, father, Gigi, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a storyteller and the keeper of our family history which stretched back to the family farm in Goodeve, Saskatchewan and even back to his roots in Ukraine. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage which he shared with his family at every opportunity and expressed by volunteering at the Ukrainian church over the years in a variety of ways. Receiving a degree in Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, he went on to own over 22 businesses in his lifetime. We remember Gerry for his sense of adventure, love of music and playing games with his family. Most of all he will be remembered as a fighter battling health challenges for over 20 years including receiving a heart transplant 13 years ago which earned him the gift of watching his grandchildren grow up. The funeral will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 154 East 10th Ave., Vancouver, BC.
