Harry Shao Yung Hsu

1923 - 2015

With great sadness, we announce the gentle passing of Harry Hsu on a beautiful Sunday morning February 22nd, 2015. He is survived by his wife Lena, daughter Suzanne (Michael), son Gordon (May), grandchildren Simone, Conor, Jenelle, Nicole, and Harry’s brother and other family members in China. He was born on May 4, 1923 in a small town outside of Shanghai. Growing up through the war years, he excelled in his studies, attended top schools and eventually worked in the shipping industry where he met his loving wife in Hong Kong. In 1965, with great strength and determination, he moved his family to Vancouver, Canada to give his children a better life and opportunity. He re-educated himself and worked for many years in the computer field. After retiring, Harry and Lena travelled the world, took numerous cruises and enjoyed the gift of grandkids. Throughout his life, he supported not only his immediate family but also his parents and other family members. He took care of everyone. He will be missed by all. There will be a private service for family members only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Vancouver General Hospital.
