

NIXON, Isabel Maud – Born in Vancouver BC on February 7, 1925, Isabel passed away peacefully on December 2, 2011. Predeceased by her parents Rev. Alver and Mrs. Lena MacKay, brother Fred MacKay, Isabel is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert, and daughters Wendy and Debbie (Wayne), grandchildren Kysa (Dan) and Ryan (Nina), and great-grandchildren Brandt and Mikenley . Also survived by favourite cousin, Walter Flesher and family. After starting off in nursing, Isabel found her career path in education, teaching for many years in Surrey. A cause close to Isabel’s heart was the P.E.O. Sisterhood. A 63 year member, Isabel devoted her time and energy serving as Provincial Historian and fund raising for women’s educational grants, loans, and scholarships. Isabel enjoyed many travels with her husband Bob during their life together. Isabel will be remembered for her smile, sense of humour, and love of family. Special thanks to the staff of the ACE unit at Peace Arch Hospital for their unwavering care of Isabel and support for the family. Please join us in celebrating Isabel’s life on December 11, 2011 at 11:00am at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
