

1944 – 2025
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jim Houseman on July 20, 2025. Jim was born February 29, 1944 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan to Werner and Margaret Houseman. He spent his early years in Central Butte attending school and playing sports including baseball, hockey and football. His interest in Funeral Service began in his early 20’s when he started his apprenticeship in Saskatoon. Once he completed his apprenticeship he would move west to Victoria to work for Sands Funeral Chapel where he would also meet his future wife Anne. Two years later Jim moved to Vancouver where he found his funeral service niche at the Hamilton Mortuary. After 33 years with Hamilton’s Jim would join Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel and later retire from the funeral profession at Kearney Funeral Service. He proudly served on the board of the B.C. Funeral Service Association including a two-year term as President from 1997 – 1999. Jim is survived by his loving family, wife Anne; son Ryan (Rachael); his special angel granddaughter Charlotte; cousins and many friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Cremation to follow.
