Janet was born in Seria, Brunei and was the eldest girl of 7 brothers and sisters. She worked at BSP Brunei Shell Petroleum where she met her future husband, Bernard. They married in 1962 and started their family in 1963.
In April 1972, Janet packed up their home and travelled all the way to Vancouver on her own with four children ages 2 to 9 years to join Bernard, who had immigrated to Canada on a work program in 1971.
They settled in Burnaby in 1972 and she started work at TRIUMF on the UBC Campus where she worked until she retired in 1992.
Janet stayed active by participating in Tai Chi, Badminton and Ping Pong with the Bonsors’ seniors group. She also enjoyed travelling by cruise ship to see the world with friends.
She will be dearly missed by Bernard, and children Annie, Jane (David), Joe (Angie) and Irene as well as her beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, Alina, Madeline, Grace and Elijah. She was committed to passing on the family traditions to this next generation.
Janet was the eldest sister in her family, she was the matriarch and much loved by her siblings and in-laws, and many nieces and nephews as well as their families. She also will be missed by her many friends and neighbours.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at St. Francis de Sales Parish - 6610 Balmoral St, Burnaby, BC V5E 1H2. A reception to Follow (approx. 2:30 pm) at Lee Garden Restaurant - 6401 Kingsway (entrance and parking behind restaurant - enter off of Balmoral).

If you would like to send flowers, please have them delivered to Forest Lawn Funeral Home by 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, to allow sufficient time for set up prior to the Funeral Mass at the church. They are located at 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC V5G 3M1
