AVIS DE DÉCÈS

John Alexander Murray

1 mars 1938 – 11 octobre 2025
Avis de décès de John Alexander Murray
AUX SOINS DE

Ocean View Funeral Home & Burial Park

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing at home of John Alexander Murray, age 87 years.

John was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret, his son, Byron, and his sister, Elizabeth; also his sister-in-law Alice and husband Alec in Scotland, family and friends throughout BC, UK, and beyond. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth (Stenstrom) Murray, and by his sister, Evelyn.

John was born in Vancouver BC. He had a 35-year-career with BC Tel/Telus. Through his early days as a Queen's Scout and Scoutmaster, he exhibited leadership skills and some of his long-lasting friendships stem from that connection. He loved the outdoors which included boating, waterskiing and snow skiing, and taught others these passions. His love of skiing started on Mt. Seymour in the 1950s, and he became a member of its Ski Patrol in the 1960s. An award from Whistler Blackcomb in 2018 marked his 25 years of volunteer service on the mountain.

At John's request there will be a private burial. Donations to his memory may be made to the Zero Ceiling Society of Canada, Whistler BC.
