Josip Basic

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Josip (Joe) Basic at the age of 89. Born on May 24th, 1927 in Duboki, Perusic, Lika, Croatia, Josip passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 27th, 2017. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle will always be remembered by his loving wife of nearly 60 years Matilda, children Mary, Joe, Tili (David), grandchildren Stefan, Claudia, Jeremy, Jason and Gabby, daughter in law Jane, sister in law Anka Basic, brothers in law Josip Sulentic and Josip Vicic as well as many nieces, nephews, close family and friends in Canada, United States, Croatia and Australia. Josip was a proud man who loved his family and his Croatian heritage. Prayers will be offered at 7:00pm on Monday, March 6th, 2017 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday, March 7th, 2017. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby, BC. Special thanks to the entire staff at VGH, especially CP-10H.
