Kaia Maria Messina

Kaia Maria Messina was given her angel wings on June 4th, 2010. Her final days were spent surrounded by loving family and friends that Kaia had touched in many small ways throughout her brief, yet very memorable life. Kaia's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile, tiny fingers, baby soft skin and big beautiful eyes brought so much joy to our family. Although she was tiny and frail, she gave us all such courage and hope. Kaia fought hard and she reminded us of how precious life is ' even the simple things. She could spend hours rocking in her favourite chair while cuddling close to those she loved so much. With Kaia's passing, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, especially her smile, she will forever remain in our hearts. We were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents. We are so thankful that Kaia's sister Mikayla knew and loved her sister, so she can hold dear the memory of Kaia's gentle spirit. Kaia is survived by her loving parents, Ray and Leanne Messina of New Westminster; sister Mikayla Messina; grandparents Joe and Maria Messina, Jackie Johnson and Bill George. Prayers and Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales, 6610 Balmoral St, Burnaby, on June 9th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: BC Children's Hospital at www.bcch.ca
