Born in the village of Shan Ge Chang Ning Cun to Mah Yen Wan and Quon Art Mah, Kay was raised in Guangdong province in China.
Kay immigrated to Canada in 1950 and settled with her parents, younger sister and her two younger brothers in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Her father owned and operated the Legion Confectionery where Kay worked in the shop until she traveled out West and met the man with whom she would spend the rest of her life with. She was married 66 years to the love of her life, Bing, who survives her. She is also survived by her children, Davies (Shirley), Edward (Tamara) and Andrew (Sabrina), 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one brother, Ted Mah. Kay gardened, travelled the world, played mahjong, baked the best apple pies and sponge cakes and laughed through life.
As an adult, she worked tirelessly side by side with her husband to build a family business with humble beginnings. Kay was resilient and utterly devoted to her family and was happiest when everyone was gathered together. She was known for her infectious laugh, kind heart and generosity of spirit. She was the heart and soul of our family and she will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Kay at the funeral on Monday, May 13th at 1PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby, BC.
