Sadly, we announce the passing of an exceptional individual. Kenneth Wilfred Derpak, born in Vancouver on July 23, 1924 and passing on March 4, 2017 after 92 great years. Ken was predeceased by his wife of over 42 years, Jacqueline Derpak, in 1989. Ken and Jackie are survived by their sons Dan (Joan), Ken (Jan) and David (Nancy) as well as their grandchildren James (Laura), Jon (Mélanie), Jeff (Katie), Chris (Kristen), Cory (Cathy), Caleigh (Ryan), Jordan (Gui Bo) and Carly and his most recent source of pride, great-grandson Maxwell. He leaves behind his brother Bill and his wife Eva. Ken was also predeceased by spouses Lyn Maeir and Ruth Rutledge. Ken grew up in the Renfrew area of Vancouver. Following World War II, he returned to school to become a successful lawyer, helping a great many people and organizations during his 32-year practice on West Broadway. He worked incredibly hard his entire life and was never without a project. Further, Ken's adventurous nature pushed him to travel the world many times. He spent his long years surrounded by family and friends and loved life completely. He was most generous and kind, incredibly positive and gracious as well as appreciative and sincere from beginning to end. We all miss him deeply already, but will remember him deeply for all of our years. Many thanks to the staff at both George Derby Centre and Burnaby Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Vancouver Golf Club, 771 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
