After a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully. Predeceased by father (Masao) 2011. Lovingly cherished by mother Atsu and sisters/brothers Sumiko (Terry) Nakano, Donald (Melissa), Robert (Jitka), Eiko L. (Charles) Byers. Survived by devoted wife Ruth with children Paul, Shari, Derek and companion Tobi. Nieces/ nephews: Julie (Andrew), Kathie, Gregory (Tina), Garrett, Connor, Caitlin, Eric (Anica), Keith, Elise (Sino), Janelle (Casey) Hanson, Staci, Calib. Also left to mourn is his mother-in-law Sadako (Susie) Oyama, sister-in-law Emi (Derek) Locke with Tyler and Melanie. Kiyo was a proud member of the Vancouver Police Department always hoping that he made a difference. He will be remembered for his love of family, bowling, fishing, gardening and humour. Flowers and koden gratefully declined, donations to BC Children's Hospital or Crossroads Hospice in his memory are much appreciated. Family service held January 18, 2013 at Ocean View with interment held in Forest Lawn Funeral Park, Burnaby, BC.
