Auntie Laura will truly be missed, especially her shortbread cookies which she sent down to 552 Union Street, with the fork marks on them, a great hit with all the kids (circa 1944) RIP, Auntie Laura, and Happy Re-union with Uncle Art. I would suppose that at a time like this, people would view the loss as a loss.  For me it was that, but it was also a gain in rememberance of the good times, my childhood, her fondness for food and the conversation that would evolve around it.  The familiarity of her smile and the tenderness from her heart.  She was my original inspiration, the catalyst so to say for my love of food.  Like my fathers inspiration for cars, Aunt Laura was mine for food.  My best "second Mum" (and I had many :)).  Both her and Uncle Art were always at the top of my mind, deep within my heart and memories.   I,,,, we all love you.

The Last Stanzas of "Aunt Laura's Blueberry Pie"

Memories are a funny thing, by the way
So let us remember, come what may
To wear the colour Blueberry, colourful I say.

To have the shake, the sundae, with blueberries.
To be true, let's make it Blue-
berry Pie a la mode, to support the dairies.

And if it's okay, let's without much due delay
Remember every March 15, as "Laura's Blueberry Day".

Please accept our deep and sincere sympathy in your loss.  We will always remember Aunt Laura's warm and welcomming ways when we visited. She would always engage us in lively conversation and be a totally generous and gracious host.

She was a marvellous cook whose talents she has bestowed on her children.  But what I remember most was her Scrump-Dillyicious, melt in your mouth pastry folded on fresh blueberries-The Blueberry Pie!!

Aunt Laura's Blueberry Pie

It soothed and quelled the Beast in me from the Savannah
Each mouthful was Nirvana
And with coffee made with beans from Havanna
Made me never mind my favorite cream pie-Banana.

Now you know I'm not gonna lie
When I tell everybody why
That whenever I reminisce and breathe a deep longing sigh
I'm thinking and remembering the taste of Aunt Laura's blueberry pie.

We are so...so sorry...she will be missed.

I have many fond memories of my Auntie Laura...her wit and sweet demeanor, the sincere interest she took about things happening in my life,  peanut butter cookies she once use to bake, an amazingly hearty appetite and the running tease about how she was always the last to finish eating a meal, her trendy wardrobe, her fondness of pets and welcoming ours in her home....these are just a small sample of things that made Auntie Laura dear to me.  She will be missed but will always remain a loving memory.

My deepest sympathies to you and your families.  I have only had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Auntie Laura a few times when Nora and I visited her on our shopping trips to Vancouver.  She and Uncle Art were always so welcoming and gracious, I was sad to hear of her passing.  I will always remember her teasing us about our rented red convertible, we were sure it was a red pontiac.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
