Leonilde Nives Burlon

In Loving Memory of a mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed away in the arms of her son and daughter on November 12, 2025 at the age of 99. Nives was born on August 27, 1926 in Santa Marizza (Udine) Italy and came to Canada in 1954. She is predeceased by her husband Vittorio of 57 years and is survived by her children Esterina (Mike), Joe (Sonia), grandchildren Michael (Irina), Tanya (Jason), Tara, great grandchildren Makar and Zoya, two sisters and many nieces and nephews who reside in Italy as well as niece Athena (and family) and family of predeceased nephew Bill here in Canada.

Nives was a pillar of strength and dedication tirelessly working for her family, both as a teenager in Italy where she earned the money for her parents to build a home and here in Canada when she started her own family over 70 years ago; never uttering the word “no “ when asked for help. In her “spare “time she loved to garden, cook, knit and crochet. Her selflessness and generosity have been a constant source of inspiration and her love and devotion has been the glue that holds our family together. For that we are eternally grateful.

The family would like to recognize the Vancouver Coastal Health Home Vive Program and the Canadian Red Cross for enabling them to fulfill their mother’s wish to remain in her home.

A funeral service will be held at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, located at 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC, V5C 2J6, Canada, on November 25, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A committal service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4A9, Canada, on November 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
