AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Louis Kin Fat Lan Chow Wing 劉馨達

2 février 1925 – 19 mars 2020
Avis de décès de Louis Kin Fat Lan Chow Wing 劉馨達
AUX SOINS DE

Ocean View Funeral Home & Burial Park

Louis Kin Fat Lan Chow Wing of Burnaby, Vancouver, 95, departed this life on 19 March 2020 for a reunion with family and friends he had not seen in a long time.

Louis was born on 2 February 1925 in Port Louis, Mauritius. He left for his studies at the University of Hong Kong in 1946. He met Philomena Lin in 1948, and the rest, so the saying goes, is history. They wed on 16 January 1954.

A great raconteur and a devoted family man with a big heart, he will be remembered for his endless generosity in helping others in need. Such quality already manifested itself in him as a young man in Mauritius, as penned in this touching anecdote by his nephew Francois:

“I still remember Uncle took me on his shoulders to school every Monday. I refused to go as I was bullied by elder boys who punched my face and nose. The song he used to sing is still in my ears... You told me you loved me one day. One week. One year.”

His love of helping people never ceased. Despite having to provide for a growing family, he served the community as an active member of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Service, offering voluntary aid to improve the lives of others. He was also commended by the Hong Kong Red Cross as a frequent blood donor.

Louis lived a leisurely life in Vancouver after retirement, travelling extensively to spend time with family and friends all over the world.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Philomena; along with 3 children and their spouses, Kenny & Gloria, Christine & Ginger, Beatrice & Kai; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Bernard & Megumi, Kevin & Etsuko, Emily, Cheryl & Lee, Dominic & Jabe and Vivienne; and 3 great grandchildren, Keita, Patrick and Brandon.

We are proud to celebrate his life well lived. He was deeply loved and will forever be cherished.
