Margaret Lok Kuen Lee

Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children, Pang, Rosana, Ann and Stephanie; her children’s spouses, Eva, Raymond and Steven, and her grandchildren, Valarie and Vanessa.

Margaret moved to Cairns, Australia with her family when she was five. When she was 16, her mom, brother and she went back to China to visit their cousins but ended up having to stay because of the political situation. There she met up with her childhood sweetheart, Hung, and formed a happy family. They both lived great lives with so much adventure, joy, and excitement.

She moved to Macau in 1962 due to political instability in China. She was an English teacher in Sacred Heart Canossian College. The whole family then moved to Hong Kong in 1967. She worked as a promotion supervisor in the Infant Nutrition Section of a pharmaceutical company. She later worked as senior marketing promotion executive in a marketing company. She was praised by all her employers for her work ethic and dedication. While being successful in her professional life, she was also able to balance life at home with her family.

In 1991, Margaret moved to Canada to reunite with the whole family. She spent her retirement years living with her second daughter and was blessed to see her grandchildren grow up to be two beautiful and loving individuals.

She was a woman of many talents. She loved gardening, knitting, sewing, reading and she was especially good at cooking. She was like an iron chef in the family - her food brought everyone together, warming our bellies and our souls. One of our favourite memories is of her and Hung ball room dancing in the living room - we like to think that the two of them are dancing happily in heaven together now, a pair of beautiful butterflies.

She was a beautiful, caring, and compassionate woman with so much love for her family members and friends. She always put others before herself - she never hesitated to help others in good or bad times. The love and care she showed others will live on forever in the hearts of the people she knew. When people think of Margaret, they immediately think of her excellent cooking skills, hospitality, and caring personality. She had a talent for listening and solving problems - everyone knew they could turn to her for anything, big or small. Her wisdom was infinite and she was the pillar of the family. Margaret brought love to everyone’s life - she had a wonderful life and will be missed dearly by everyone.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held privately within the family on May 28, 2021 due to the current pandemic restrictions. In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in Margaret Lok Kuen Lee’s name directly to Richmond Hospital at
