Mary is survived by son Rob (Caroline) and daughter Susan (Gordon), beloved granddaughters Alyssa, Brieanna, Jessica, and Jennifer and much loved great grandchildren Rhys, Isabella, and Riley.
Born in Unterlag, Gottschee, Yugoslavia on March 25, 1937, Mary's younger years were shaped by the war, eventually immigrating to Canada when she was 14. Mary spent much of her life working as domestic help and raising her young family. Family was very important to Mom and as a result we spent many happy Friday nights at Grandma and Grandpa's house along with all of our cousins. Mom was the "hostess with the mostess" and loved hosting countless dinner parties for family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at St. Michael's Hospice for making Mom's final days as comfortable as possible. Prayers will be held at St. Francis De Sales Parish, 6610 Balmoral Street, Burnaby, BC on Friday December 13th at 6 pm. Funeral service will be held on the 14th at 1:30 pm followed by a celebration of life at The Poppy Residences, 5291 Grimmer Street, Burnaby.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
