Life Story of Marianne
Marianne, our beloved eldest sister, was born in Hong Kong in the 1950s. We were a close-knit family of six siblings with deep bond, growing up together in days filled with joy and laughter, leaving behind many beautiful memories.
In memory , Marianne's savory pancakes (Chinese pancakes) were the favorite of all her siblings, and they were incredibly delicious. She not only excelled in cooking snacks but also had artistic talent. During her primary school years ; one of her paintings was selected by the school for exhibition at the Hong Kong City Hall.
During her childhood, Marianne enjoyed reading magazines such as "Children's Paradise" and "13 Dots and Jiao Di Di". In the early 1970s, she also developed a fondness for the magazine "Sister."
With the assistance of our relatives / 二叔, 二嬸, and Aunt Avan ( 九姑姐);Marianne immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. After her arrival, she made the decision to continue her education and returned to school. With Aunt Avan's dedicated teaching and encouragement, she successfully completed her studies. Later, Marianne entered the field of social work, and through God’s providence, she met her life partner, Kent. They got married and had a son named Zachary, who brought a new chapter into her life.
Before Marianne's passing, she entrusted us with expressing her gratitude to the relatives who had taken care of and loved her. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to 二叔 and 二嬸 for providing her with warmth and love during her time in Vancouver. They treated her like their own daughter, caring for her meticulously. Sometimes ; if Marianne hadn't returned home late at night, 二叔 would sit alone in the living room, waiting for her until he saw her face before returning to his room to sleep. Their deep love for Marianne is truly appreciated.
Marianne also specifically asked us to express her gratitude to her beloved Aunt Avan. Aunt Avan was her mentor in studies, always helping and teaching her whenever she faced academic difficulties. No matter how late at night, Aunt Avan never refused to help her with her homework. After Marianne's graduation, Aunt Avan provided her with valuable advice and reminders in her job search, encouraging and guiding her to find an ideal job.
Furthermore, Aunt Avan introduced Marianne to the Lord Jesus Christ, guiding her in her spiritual journey and frequently bringing her to church. This led to her accepting salvation and becoming a child of God, receiving eternal life. May the Lord personally reward Aunt Avan for her love and devotion.
A funeral service for Marianne will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4.
