She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Martin Vukelic. Much loved mother of Milan Vukelic (Ruza), Lucija Hestera (Franjo), Jadranka Suric (Marjan), and Srecko Vukelic (Margaret). Cherished Baka (grandmother) of Milana Curkovic (Ivan), Martin Vukelic (Irina), late Kate Vukelic (2017), Josip Hestera (Susy), Martin Hestera (Sytra), Helena Hestera, Emilia Hestera (Wassim), Marina Brkic (Ante), Nikola Hestera (Emilija), Magdalena Suric, Nikolina Suric, Marica Suric, Katarina Suric (Orie), Rachael and Madeleine Vukelic. Loving prabaka (great grandmother) to Milana, Franjo, Sara, Renata Hestera, Jackson, Olivia, Stella, Sofia Hestera, Martin, Marko Hestera, Jozo, Lucija, Mara Brkic, Mato Hestera, Maximus, Mateo, Magnus Vukelic, Mateo and Thomas.
Marica was born on August 11, 1929, in Donji Kosinj, Lika, Croatia. She was the daughter of the late Mile Vukelic and Ikica Vukelic (Sigurnjak). Marica came to Canada with her beloved husband and children in 1965 setting her roots in Vancouver. She worked hard to build a new life in Canada. She was an independent, generous, dedicated, and loving woman who enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Marica worked at Denman Place for 17 years, she enjoyed her position there and took pride in her work.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Ocean View Funeral Chapel, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021, Visitation and Viewing between 4:00-6:00 pm.
A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 E. 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC at 11:00 am, followed by Committal Service at 12:30-1:00 pm at Section: Garden of Fortune, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC.
If so desired, memorial donations will be gratefully acknowledged to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of British Columbia or to Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish.
