Mariella Testini (nee Canale)

16 MARCH, 1939 – 22 OCTOBER, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, Mariella Testini (nee Canale). Mom passed away peacefully in her own home at the age of 84, on Sunday October 22, 2023. Mom was born in Mozzagrogna, Abruzzo, Italy on March 16, 1939 and immigrated to Canada in July 1958 at the age of 19 as a newlywed and expecting her first child. She and her loving husband Nicola (predeceased 2014) settled and created a loving, nurturing home for their 3 children in Vancouver and later Burnaby. Mom will be forever loved and sorely missed by her children Tony (Fila), Silvana (Rick) & Marco (Gina), as well as by her 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Lucas, Angela (Dan), Christopher (Colleen), Sage (Rebecca), Sterling (Molly) and Chase (Chelsea). She also leaves behind her 5 great-grandchildren, Nico & Mattias, and Emerson, Easton & Ever. Predeceased by her husband Nicola, parents Giuseppe & Maria and brother Giovanni, Mom is survived by her sister Lina, sister-in-law Maria and nieces & nephews in Italy, all of whom she missed dearly; as well as her Zia Teresa & family in Vancouver, and other family and friends in Canada and Italy. Mom was an amazing cook, a baker extraordinaire and an avid gardener all of which brought her and all her family joy, fed our bodies and nourished our souls. Mom/Nonna, we will be forever grateful and you will always be in our hearts. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 01 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Ave, Burnaby BC.
