Marion May Shem Soon (née Lee)

Mom passed away on December 15, 2020 at the age of 93. She was predeceased in 2017 by both her husband George (marriage of 73 years) and son Martin. Mom was also predeceased by her two sisters (Mai and Mabel) and five brothers (Tom, Bob, Stan, Charlie and Ken). She is survived by daughters Georgina, Carolyne (Gary), son Brian (Laura), daughter-in-law Sharon, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brother-in-laws Jerry Soon (Hazel) and Pingie Soon, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom had a very successful 35 year career with CIBC. She and Dad enjoyed and looked forward to attending their annual retiree luncheon and catching up with old friends and colleagues.

She was a talented seamstress and homemaker. She was also a warm host to family and friends. Dad was the chief cook with Mom the sous-chef, a natural team. Mom and Dad, like all the Soons, enjoyed listening/dancing to the music of Sinatra, Martin, Armstrong and Cole.

They travelled extensively with dad’s brothers and sisters and had fond memories of those times.

Mom, loved by her family, will be sadly missed. Knowing that she is now back with Dad, Marty and her family brings a feeling of comfort to all of us.

We greatly thank Morgan Place staff for their care and support of Mom. Their friendliness, warmth and compassion toward our family have been greatly appreciated.
