Simon Shek Wing Cheung passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on March 11, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born on August 11, 1941, in Hong Kong, and later immigrating to Canada, Simon’s life was a testimony to God’s faithfulness.
Simon was a devoted husband to his wife, Margaret, and a loving father to his two children, Beryl and Titus. He was also a gentle, caring, and deeply cherished grandfather to his six grandchildren.
Throughout his life, many witnessed God’s goodness and guidance in Simon’s journey. He worked for many years in Hong Kong as a respected pharmaceutical sales representative at ICI. After immigrating to Vancouver, he faced challenges continuing in that field and humbly worked at gas stations and food warehouses with contentment. In time, God opened the door for him to join SCI, where he served as a trusted and well-loved sales representative with Dignity Memorial for over 25 years. He was not a typical salesman, but one known for his integrity, sincerity, and genuine care for others. His success was a reflection of God’s providence and faithfulness.
Simon was known for his love for family and for those around him. He generously supported orphans and people in need, always placing others before himself—even in his final days. He was remembered as joyful, peaceful, gentle, sincere, and kind. Many will miss his warm smile as he faithfully served as an usher at Vancouver Christian Assembly. In Hong Kong, he and his wife devoted themselves to serving young people in their church, often opening their home and preparing meals for them. He was also an active member of the Chiu Chow Benevolent Association of BC.
Simon had a deep love for cooking and hospitality. As a Chiu Chow native, he was especially known for his famous Chiu Chow braised duck. He also enjoyed hosting Korean BBQ gatherings at his home. He appreciated the arts in many forms, including writing poetry, drawing, playing hymns on the piano, photography, and cooking.
In his home, he displayed plaques bearing the phrase “榮神益人”, “Glorifying God and benefiting others”, which truly reflected his life. His journey can also be summed up in the hymn: “All the Way My Savior Leads Me.”
Simon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
