It is with heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of Ngen Chong, our beloved cousin and an individual whose kindness and generosity touched our lives.

Ngen Chong was a pillar of strength to his family and always there when you needed him. His generosity knew no bounds, and he found joy in caring for those younger than him while showing profound respect for his elders. His thoughtfulness was evident in countless ways throughout his life.

One of my fondest memories was the many visits to Seria, where he graciously housed us in his beautiful Shell quarters and ensured we were comfortable and well-acquainted with the area. His hospitality made those visits unforgettable.
Ngen Chong's respect for elders was truly remarkable. When my parents visited my sister in Toronto many years ago, he flew all the way from Vancouver to spend time with them, showing his deep respect and love. His actions spoke volumes about his character.
During our visit to Vancouver 2007, Ngen Chong went above and beyond by offering his son's condo for us to stay during our entire holiday. He even took a day off work to show us around the city, demonstrating his kind and considerate nature.

Even when he was not feeling well earlier this year, he made the effort to call my parents to wish them a Happy Chinese New Year. This gesture, despite his own discomfort, showed his unwavering thoughtfulness and respect to the eldest.

Ngen Chong will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, respect, and generosity will live on in our hearts forever.

I have known Chong for over 10 years through one-time service since we have kept in touch. Once, his oldest daughter worked at my Learning Centre for a short while. Chong has been a very kind and warm person, and we talked about how one day I could join him to tour around, but now I will have to dream of it. I had planned to visit him when I moved to Surrey last year, but it was delayed due to my hip injury. Now I regret it. I should have visited to rekindle our friendship. Chong, I will always miss you.

Mr. Lo was a highly respected elder figure in both the local and national Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) community. He had selflessly contributed his very best to the promotion of Xiangqi as well as passing on his incredible and valuable life experience to the next generation of Xiangqi enthusiasts. He will be deeply missed.
