May 4, 1920 – February 14, 2018
Olive (Jenny) passed peacefully, with dignity, at age 97. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dave, sisters Leone, Louise, Bertha, and countless relatives and friends.
Olive is survived with love by son Dave (Robyn) and daughter Anna (Ross Tremere); grandchildren David Brass (Brenda) and Richelle (nee Brass)(Rob Marino); great grandchildren David, Alexa, Tessa, Adam, Brooklyn, Sabrina, and Jacob; sister Evelyn (Willis Scott); nieces, nephews; and extended family.
Born in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, she moved to BC after graduating as a psychiatric nurse and worked at Essondale/Riverview Hospital and Woodlands School.
Widowed at 73, she continued her longstanding involvement in various community and volunteer activities. Her piano was a lifelong source of joy. She played in an Old Time Band and was still able to play a few bars of her favourite tunes until recently. She was a remarkable lady with a wonderful sense of humour and dedicated her life to caring for her family and those in need. She had a wide and varied circle of friends and a love for all animals. The kindness and compassionate care given to her by The Madison Care Facility staff was greatly appreciated as she completed her journey with Alzheimer’s. Donations may be made in Olive’s name to Operation Eyesight at https://www.operationeyesight.com/ which she supported for many years.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby BC.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
