AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Mr. Pai Gee Richard Lam

27 mars 1924 – 26 janvier 2021
Avis de décès de Mr. Pai Gee Richard Lam
AUX SOINS DE

Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Richard passed away peacefully on January 26, 2021. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, and will be missed dearly.

Richard was born on March 27, 1924 in Shanghai, China, where he grew up with his younger brother. His Father had an important role as Commissioner for the Customs Department of Shanghai, and was often required to travel for business. Both Richard and his brother were very close to their Grandmother, who took care of them when they were away. Following his graduation from University, he immigrated to Hong Kong in 1949. He was immediately offered a good job, because of his ability to speak English as well as three different popular Chinese dialects. This was a great asset while working in the textile business, and helped him find great success in his career.

He was married to his cousin, Laura in May of 1951, and raised 3 children together in Hong Kong. They later immigrated to Canada in 1983, after his retirement, to be with their daughter, Christine and her family.

He was a man of many talents and interests, particularly in the Arts, and decided to start a new career in photography after he arrived in Vancouver. Many who knew him, would remember the studio he had on Kingsway, where he took many photos and portraits, and had a real talent for capturing the beauty of family. From a young age, he was always interested in how things worked. Always tinkering and fixing things. And he was never too old to learn something new. His interests were vast: history, painting, classical music, carpentry, and cars, to name a few.

He was a man of faith and came from a longline of Christians. He attended Pacific Grace MB Church, and later Cornerstone Baptist Church, faithfully throughout his years. We know that he is now in the loving arms of Jesus, reunited with his wife Laura and daughter, Leslie.

Richard is survived by his daughter Christine (Jonathan), son Ronald, grandchildren Stephen (Stef), Becky (Dan), and Jason, and great-grandchildren Jamie, Tyson, Emmy, Hanna, and Leah. He is preceded in death by his wife Laura, and his daughter Leslie.

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
