It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother at Vancouver Hospital in Vancouver. She had resided at Kopernik Lodge since August 2015 and prior to that at Cavell Gardens for 2 years. She was predeceased by her husband Rubin, son Chuck, parents and siblings (Irene, Harry & Gordon). Born near Melville, Saskatchewan she relocated to Vancouver in 1942. Later she attended John Oliver High School. After school she held a variety of jobs, but fondly recalled her years working at Woolworths (5 & dime) on Fraser Street.
She was married in 1952 to Rubin Silverman and began a family in 1954 with son, Chuck. From then on she was Mom and a housewife. After that came daughters Cathy and Brenda.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Oakridge Seniors Centre quilting group for many years and enjoyed her weekly outings there. She will be remembered by her daughters, grand-daughters, nephew & family and long-time friends.
Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday January 11th 2:00pm at Ocean View Memorial Park ~ Chapel Courtyard, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
