It is with sadness and deep gratitude that we share Prisco Brabante Ocampo, a resident of Vancouver, B.C. passed away on March 5, 2025. Prisco was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and proud member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo – Church of Christ.
He was born and raised in Baao, Camarines Sur, Philippines on November 2, 1943. He was known for his kindness, generosity and for always sharing a smile. He always brought joy and happiness to his friends and family. He met his wife Merlita Catuira Ocampo at the Iglesia Ni Cristo Templo Central in Quezon City, Philippines and they were married on April 27, 1988. He joined her in Canada on September 21, 1990.
As a husband, he was a constant source of love and support, always putting his family first and making each day brighter with his presence. He shared much joy with Merlita, his partner in life and together they built a beautiful life full of travel, laughter and cherished memories.
As an uncle and great-uncle, he was the embodiment of generosity and kindness. He treated his great nieces and great nephews as his own grandchildren. His nephew once coined him as “Tito Peesok Pizzan” as he was always ready to share his generosity by treating his nieces and nephews to a few pizzas. His family adored him and knew him as someone who would always make time to listen, share a laugh or observe as his many great nieces and nephews would share stories, games or a song and dance.
Beyond his family, Prisco was a hard worker and dear friend to many. He was a longtime employee of the City of North Vancouver where he was known for his commitment to excellence. He was an active member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo – Church of Christ where he took great pride in his office as an overseer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and lived his life with grace and gratitude.
Prisco’s passions were simple, yet profound whether it was spending time with Merlita and family, a quiet evening with his wife or spending the day shopping and finding great deals. He also had a love for staying active which included karate, walking and spending many hours gardening.
Prisco leaves behind his loving and devoted spouse Merlita Ocampo, his cherished siblings, nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded by his parents Crispino Ocampo and Bernarda Brabante Ocampo and his brothers Jose Ocampo (Chalita Ocampo) and Gilberto B. Ocampo (Josepina B. Ocampo).
Prisco is survived by his sisters Nelly O. Buena (Pedro Buena Jr.), Teresita O. Bedural (Roberto Bedural), Raquel Ocampo, Nenita O. Elcano (Jose D. Elcano) his brother Aggeo B. Ocampo (Aniecia C. Ocampo), his sisters-in-law Ismaelita Suarez (Dave Suarez), Teresita Marcelino (Ricardo Marcelino), Melinda Llagas (Floro Llagas Jr.), Leonisa Llagas (Froilan Llagas), his brother-in-law Juan Catuira Jr., his nieces and nephews, Sheila Taylor (Mark Taylor), Sherry Ilog (Roland Ilog), Kenneth Suarez (Cris Suarez), Sigrid Cortez (Frederick Cortez), Diana Suarez, Jeanette Marcelino Siddayao (Johanssen Siddayao), Joanna Catuira, Jessica Marcelino Horvath (Zsolti Horvath), Millie Ann Llagas, Miaflor Llagas, Floro Llagas III, Froilan Jr. Llagas, and his great nieces and great nephews, Tessa Taylor, Peyton Taylor, Avery Ilog, Isaias Ilog, Mariella Horvath, Demetrius Ricardo Horvath, Michaelssen Siddayao and Bennet Cruz Siddayao.

May our dear Prisco rest peacefully, until we meet again.
So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. – John 16:22 NIV
