

Rudy was born in Munich on May 20, 1934. He grew up in Munich and emigrated with his family to Canada in 1951. Rudy met the love of his life Cornelia Klaver in 1954 and married a year later on September 3rd, 1955. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Cornelia. He is survived by his four children, Claude (Marcia), Inge Hardman (Dmitri), Greg (Maryann), and Brenda Brown, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Rudy had a passion for the outdoors and sports. He loved hiking, skiing, cycling, canoeing, golfing and racquets sports, particularly tennis, badminton and table tennis. He shared these many passions with his children and eventually, with the grandchildren. In 1955, Rudy started his own electrical contracting company, Noru Electric. In 1970, he changed his career and started instructing and mentoring students at the BC Vocational School in the electrical field. His dedication to teaching and the electrical apprenticeship program was recognized, and he was eventually appointed as Dean of Electrical Trades at BCIT.
He was devoted to his family and creating a stable and nurturing homelife. He would help anyone who needed his support. During retirement, he was actively involved with his grandchildren. After Cornelia was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he was unwaveringly devoted to her care. Rudy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in his late 70’s.
The family would like to thank the staff of Normanna Care Home for their kindness and the compassionate care of Rudy during the last 3 years of his life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Burnaby on Friday, October 15th at Noon. Reception to follow. Internment at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 3:00pm.
