The family of San Ching Chu is heartbroken to announce the passing of our Mother on April 9, 2024, in Vancouver at the age of 90. San Ching, born in Guangdong, China, was the youngest of 2 children born to Mah Cheung Fon and Woo Kam Siu. She immigrated to Vancouver in 1968 to reunite with her husband Walter who had immigrated earlier. Mom & Dad were married for 73 years.
Mom was always active. She enjoyed walking at Oakridge Center and participating in community centre activities in Chinatown. She loved attending lectures on movement, dance, health and fitness. One of our fondest memories is of her leading her grandchildren in an exercise routine she had learned.
San Ching was happiest during family gatherings and vacations. She loved it when we were all together. She was always kind and generous towards us. We were her first priority.
San Ching will be deeply missed by daughters Annette, Angela, Cindy, Julie, Karen, their spouses, her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Thank you for being our mom. You taught us what it means to be brave, strong and resilient. We miss you so much.
You will forever be in our hearts.
