Santo Spitale

March 4, 1927 – January 12, 2023

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved 95 year old, gentle and kind-hearted father and Nonno, Santo Spitale. Born in San Cono, Sicily, Italy, Santo spent most of his life in Vancouver working hard at the Pacific Grain Elevator to always provide for his family, who brought him so much joy. Santo will now join in heaven his devoted wife of 60 plus years, Maria, parents Giuseppina and Giuseppe, brother Antonio and sister Maria. Left behind to grieve are his daughter Josie (Tony), son Joe (Linda), grandchildren Alexander (Christina), Stephen (Stevia), Jessica (Luca), Julia, Lauren, great granddaughter Erica, surviving siblings Filippa (Guido) and Salvatore (Gianna). Santo will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws both in Canada and abroad, all whose lives he touched.

Viewing will be held on January 19, 2023 from 5:30pm -7:00pm at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on January 20, 2023 at 10:00am at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C.

Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park (South), 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask donations be made to either the BC Cancer Society or the ALS Society.
