Savino Filancia

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Savino Filancia, who passed away peacefully at Burnaby General Hospital on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. Born in Torrice, Frosinone, Italy, to the late Annunziata Palpizi and Aniello Filancia, Savino immigrated to Canada in 1967 with only twenty dollars in his pocket. Through hard work and perseverance, he built a life rooted in dedication and resilience.  Savino worked at AJ Forsyth for forty years, retiring as a respected crane operator and passing his extensive skill and knowledge to others. He will be remembered not only for his work ethic but his love for gardening, music and dancing. He will be dearly missed by his children, Annunziata, Silvia, and Nello, his cherished grandchildren, Sofia, Niko, Enrico, and Rafael and extended family of Aslaam and Nicole.  He is also survived by his sister Pasqualina, brother-in-law Fernando, and their children Emmanuel, Nancy, and Gina with their families.

Mass of Christian Burial for Savino will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Parish, 6610 Balmoral St, Burnaby, BC. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Grand Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Savino.
