

Shao Lin Hwang was born on August 18, 1914 in Canton, China, with ancestors originated from Guangdong Meixien. His was number 4 in a family of four brothers and three sisters: Elder brother Shaokou, Younger brothers Shoamou and Wenzhi.
His wife was Check Peng. He had three daughters, one son, seven grand children and five great grand children.
Children: Paulina (Richard Zillman), Rosalind (Chukyun Chung), Raphael (Jennifer), and Nancy (T K Tsui).
Grand children: Yeefun Chung (Eddy Yan), Esther Chung (Eric Wang), Joseph Chung (Michelle), Florence Hwang, Justine Hwang, korina Tsui (Luke Hogan), Katheryn Tsui.
Great grand children: Jeffery Yan, Jessica Yan, Jason Yan, Joshua Wang and Benjamin Wang
He was accepted into the Yin Tang Military School after graduated from high school. Later he transferred into the Guangdong Aviation School established by Dr. Sun Yet Shen for aviation. He graduated in 1935 during the Sino Japanese war and stationed in Cheng Du, Sichuan.
After the Air Force Academy was established, he jointed the Academy as an aviation instructor for four years. He enrolled in the Strategic Military School for advanced education. He graduated and devoted in military education. He was the academic head of the Education department and an instructor for flying tactic.
Moving with the ROC Air Force Academy to Taiwan in 1949, he served as a teaching officer. Later he settled down in Taichung as a researcher in the Aviation Research and Development Group till retirement as Lieutenant Colonel. His children completed their university education in Taiwan and married with achievement.
Immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1976; moved to Vancouver in 1984. He enjoyed folding paper airplanes and creating audio-visual media as hobby in his retirement. He experienced war and peace in his life in Mainland China, Taiwan and Canada, God blessed him wherever he lived. He was awarded as outstanding parents by the Chinese Benevolent Association of Canada in 2003.
1969, he believed in the Lord and was baptized at the Methodist church in Taichung. 1976 immigrated to Canada; attended Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church; Vancouver Kao Yan Church and Caleb Senior Fellowship. 2005 attended Basel Hakka Church. After the church moved to new location, he was unable to go to church due to his health condition. But love and care of the Hakka church and pastor carried on.
At the end of June, father became weak and was admitted into St. Paul hospital. Rev. Kim Voon Yee visited the hospital several times. Through scripture, prayers and hymns, he affirmed the assurance of his eternal life. Praise the Lord! During the six weeks stay in the hospital, his was filled by joy, peace and appreciation. Painlessly, peacefully, he returned to the Bosom of the Lord.
We missed father very much. But we will get together with father to meet the Lord forever. The power of Jesus will transform our body into a glorious one. How joyful and wonderful it will be. Because “God so loved the world, He gave us his only begotten Son. Whoever beliefs in Him, will not perish, but has ever lasting life.”
