All of this, in addition to her talent and wisdom, has a lot to do with her four years of education in philosophy, science, history, etc. Under the guidance of her mentors at Stanford Online High School, she studied the great ideas of philosophers and thinkers such as Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, etc.; studied science, art, history, computers, etc.; in addition to regular AP courses, she started college-level training courses two or three years in advance, explaining them in simple terms and applying them to her summer internship practice.
 
Her future goal is to apply AI technology in the medical field, especially medical equipment combined with new AI technology, to truly help the human field. So, Shelley chose the major of Engineering Science, one of the most difficult majors to be admitted to and the most difficult to learn in the School of Engineering at the University of Toronto, to achieve high tech. in the future and serving society.

Thank you, Angel Shelley, for the beautiful memories you left behind—on the court, in the dance hall, on the ski slopes, and at home. Each moment is deeply etched in my heart, so sweet and so beautiful.  That’s why I say: Shelley's 19 years were more meaningful than 90 years of mere existence.
Thank you, Angel Shelley, for our promise—to be together forever.
May my beloved Shelley live as vibrantly as the blossoms of spring and rest as peacefully and beautifully as the falling autumn leaves.

Shelley是天使，入人间，带来无数快乐和美感；入天堂，是永远快乐与美丽的天使！

Shelley是天使，就算在生命最后阶段，她反过来一直鼓励和安慰妈妈和姐姐，让家人带着她的心愿好好活着，好好欣赏身边的美:美景美食美姿态，美物美容美心情！她那看穿生命本质的大无畏精神，令人动容，佩服和敬仰！

Shelley是天使，她充满爱心和责任心，她利用暑假和平时业余时间给边远地区孤儿院的孩子们上课，介绍科学英文历史和各地见闻。 Shelley不仅自己授课，还组织其他同学加入授课的团队，所以到现在，那些扶持项目依然在正常运作。

Shelley是天使，她关心人类也关心动植物。她常常关顾SPCA去看望被遗弃小动物，最后还领养了一只可爱的垂耳小兔子Gingerbread，本来还准备等身体康复后养狗狗猫猫的，遗憾来不及了。平时每每遇上散步的狗狗，她都会投去关切的目光，甚至抚慰一番。除了关心小动物，Shelley还特别关注大自然，记得2023年底，因为家里后院的一颗大树实在太靠近房子，她妈妈跟市政厅申请砍伐，结果Shelley强烈反对，说要保护大树，最后双方达成一致，作为补偿，妈妈接下来必须栽种200以上颗树苗，以滋养我们的地球、为大自然增添新鲜氧气。

Shelley是天使，兴趣广泛，所学之领域无不精妙，舞蹈（曾多次获一等奖1st place）、画画（小小年纪时作品获特金奖）、游泳（10级）钢琴（heading10级）溜冰滑雪、高尔夫（业余组曾获第一名）； 她对其他乐器和作曲也有浓厚的兴趣，吉他、双簧管（Oboe）等等，她也会奏上一曲; 在生命的最后阶段， 她甚至租来萨克斯风，热切地开始学习起来。她身上充满了艺术魅力， 赏心悦目， 美的天使！

Shelley是天使，自己身患疾病， 还积极关心人类疾病与痛苦。在她被发现重大疾病期间，她发起GOFUNDME以期筹集资金促进开展那些常见于青少年身上的胶质瘤的研究。她的家人和朋友将会延续她的精神让她的这一愿望继续进行下去。

我想，这一切，除了她本身具有的天赋与慧根灵精外，跟她四年哲学、科学、历史等教育也有很大关系。她在斯坦福大学附中学导师们的指导下，学习苏格拉底、亚里士多德、柏拉图、黑格尔等哲学家思想家的伟大思想；学习科学、艺术、历史、计算机等；除了常规的AP课程，她提前两三年就开始了大学级别的研修课程，深入浅出，并应用到她暑期的实习实践中。

她的未来目标是应用AI技术到医疗领域，尤其医疗设备结合AI新技术，真正帮助人类的领域。所以Shelley选择的专业是多伦多大学工程学院里最难录取最难学的专业Engineering Science（工程科学），目的就是希望未来有所成就，服务社会。

愿天使回到天堂，无病无灾，永远快乐健康幸福平安！

I would like to thank my little angel, Shelley, for her incredible tenacity and courage during the darkest times. The immense love she showed in the face of such a profound test of life and death is deeply moving and truly admirable.
During her treatment, Shelley dedicated herself to advancing glioma research, turning her commitment into action. She raised several thousand Canadian dollars, which will be donated to relevant research institutions to support the fight against this disease.
After learning about the health condition, Angel Shelley made the difficult decision to end her relationship with her boyfriend of a short time, not wanting to impact his future. 
In the final stage of her life, Angel Shelley held her mother’s and sister’s hands, sharing her heartfelt wishes with us. She urged us to live well— to live with strength, with quality, and with joy. She reminded us to cherish the beauty around us, to embrace life fully, and to let our own flowers bloom.
In her final days, palliative care doctors visited Shelley, and she asked them if she could donate her organs. The doctor explained that her corneas could be donated, and without hesitation, she said she would give them. The doctor looked at her and said, "My dear child, you don’t seem like a 19-year-old at all. It’s as if a wise old soul lives within you. You are truly wise."  Hearing those words, tears streamed down my face.
I would like to extend special thanks Angel Shelley for all the wonderful moments we shared together. Your warm personality, artistic talent, athletic ability, strong character, academic dedication, and ambitious dreams have always made me so proud. I often ask myself, Is this really my child? You have far surpassed us, inspiring those around you and teaching me so much—English, computers, golf, fitness, even food websites. You were not only my daughter but also my life mentor. In many ways, no matter how much I study, I know I can never reach your level.

在生命的最后阶段，Shelley天使拉住妈妈和姐姐的手，千交代万嘱咐，希望我们好好活着，并且要活出质量，活出力量，活出精彩；让我们多欣赏身边的美，开出生命之花。
在最后那几天， 姑息治疗的医生们过来看Shelley， Shelley问她们是否可以捐献器官，医生是眼睛的角膜是可以捐的，她毫不犹豫地说那就捐角膜，医生说“我的好孩子，你一点都不像19岁的youth，好像有个睿智的老妇人住在你心里，你非常wise。” 我当场泪如雨下。

我要特别感谢Shelley天使与我们共度的所有美好时光。
那赏心悦目的人格魅力，艺术修养，运动天赋，个人品格，学术追求，远大目标，等等，都让我为她骄傲，我常常问自己，这是我生的孩子吗。你远远超越了父母，影响了身边很多人，也教会了我很多东西：英文，计算机，golf，健身，甚至美食网站。你也是我的人生导师，我知道在很多方面，我就算一辈子学，也无法达到你的高度。感谢Shelley天使留下的倩影，在球场上，舞蹈厅，滑雪场，在家里， 一帧帧，都深深刻入我的心里，如此的甘甜美好。所以我说这Shelley天使19年的意义超过了90年的存在。

Shelley — do you remember that time when we took a pizza box, sharpied "Honk If You Love Canada," and stood outside your house for 2 hours to endure 71 honks? We did a lot of shenanigans like that growing up, from racing down ski runs to doing gymnastics routines together on the playground. 

Looking back, what I remember most are all the belly-aching laughs we shared and your infectious energy—always ready to do a perfect cartwheel or ballet spin. I'll miss you my friend. You are, and will always be, kind and vibrant.

乐乐 在我们这一辈中 我算是和乐乐一起相处和陪伴比较多也比较久的。 有时候常和乐乐交流， 乐乐对自己对人生对未来都有很深度思考， 像一个小哲学家。 

真的是天妒英才啊！ 人生的卷轴才刚刚开启， 刚要去践行自己的理想， 去经历美好生活的时候离我们而去。 

我记得乐乐你说过， 你未来想去旅行， 想做个自由职业者， 想在世界上每个想去的地方深入感受当地生活文化 去感受和经历。就像之前我和你说的一样，  我会做你的眼睛， 带着你去领略这世界的美丽，  带着你去感受各种不一样的文化。

实在难以相信，难以接受，难以释怀这件事情发生是这么猝不及防。 去年9月乐乐来上海玩的时候对于未来是多么的憧憬，对于人生是充满了规划。 

乐乐对陶陶也是非常喜爱，非常耐心的陪陶陶玩，讲英语故事绘本，我们都让陶陶以乐乐姑姑为榜样好好学习，让他学好英语去加拿大。 在乐乐姑姑回国后，陶陶好几次问什么时候可以去找乐乐姑姑玩，想到这里我不禁泪流满面。

真的非常后悔没有去加拿大见她最后一面， 或许命运就是这么捉弄人，一种是史诗级别的扯痛感从内往外传来，或许命运的安排是想让生命结束在最美好的季节，不用去经历未来的伤痛。

愿乐乐天使生如春花之灿烂，逝如秋叶之静美！
愿乐乐天使在天堂里永远美丽智慧幸福健康！

怀念篇：

乐乐天使在这世界，在我们家族短暂停留，奉献的都是美好。乐乐是我最亲爱的小侄女，以至于在得知道她生病后我立即无可抑制地涌现一股意念：代替她生病！
 乐乐天使像一池清澈的湖水，温柔处世，不怨不恨。21年她父亲去世，也没见她怨恨谁怨恨社会。她像天山上的雪莲，纯洁无瑕，笑容满面，一进门，声音清脆，阳光满屋。
 她真，会有小孩子的脾气也会有女儿家的娇憨，嘴馋的时候直接抢。她善，爱亲人也帮助社会上的其他人，不论在温哥华还是在长汀，都会做些社会慈善。她美，亭亭玉立，巧笑嫣然，肢体矫健，姿态舒展。
 乐乐天性纯良，不计较不攀比。乐乐活泼开放，在哪里都会交上一些好朋友。音乐、运动、书籍、旅游陶冶了她的性情，滑雪和高尔夫球是她的最爱，高尔夫获奖多多。她喜欢小动物，小手抚摸下去是那么的自然那么的和谐。她喜欢美食，心心念念，离开前还说要吃山上的龙眼蜜。她喜欢旅游，去年去内蒙山西宁波上海，莲步轻迈，一把折扇，翩翩佳公子。她害羞也会主动，高中毕业美国圣地亚哥的白人大帅哥，情丝暗牵，在乐乐生病时关怀备至。她谈哲学谈政治谈人生，自有一股哲人的气质，在知道自己要离开后作出一番安排，细细嘱咐，无尽留恋。
  一个兴趣这么广泛，求知欲探索欲这么旺盛的姑娘，她对这世界是多么的爱啊！巴西拍过一个动画电影《寻梦环游记》，表达了一个主题：只要有人记得她，她就没有真正离开。让我们永远记得她！
 这么美好的天使，谢谢你，给我们带来生活的美感。来世再见我继续做你的小舅！



赞美篇：

我以前就没见过对什么都好奇，对什么都这么热爱的人，连老大的吹树叶都想学。尊重老人有吧，关心小朋友有吧，帮助困难群体有吧，爱护小动物有吧。运动旅游音乐书籍。。。无所不涉，疫情期间恨不得不睡觉要去划雪。生命的张力极其强大，可惜老天爷妒忌。

在疾病期间尤见乐乐的可贵，初期的害怕和挣扎，后面安慰妈妈姐姐，感谢大家族给她的关心陪伴，最后带着神光圣洁飞升离开。一个19岁的姑娘啊！

乐乐天使反过来一直给妈妈和姐姐精神支持，给他们各种希望任务和交代，给她们继续生活的动力，妈妈和姐姐触动很大。那些医生老师同学朋友等等接触过乐乐的人，都说这那是19岁的孩子，就是大智者。泰坦尼克号杰克式的伟大灵魂就在我们身边，追求自由又无比神圣。

天使巡视人间，带来真善美，这一世使命完成，去另一世。

      我亲爱的外甥女，往昔活泼伶俐之景，犹然在目，如今却已天人永隔，舅舅满心悲戚，遥寄哀思。

       从幼年吖吖学语、稚嫩天真、到小学聪明伶俐、活泼可爱、中学的 婀娜多姿、知书达礼，转眼十九年，仿佛一瞬间！宛若天使到凡间，总是给人不一样的灵动与阳光！你是那么的懂事、有时问的问题，时常让人感觉有超越同龄人的思考：你又是那么的多才，不论是钢琴舞蹈、还是高尔夫，手足间尽显艺术的真谛、专业的素养。
       
       十九载韶华，你恰似春日繁花，明媚动人。初入大学的你，怀揣无限憧憬，本应逐梦青春，畅享知识殿堂之美妙。奈何天妒其才，恶疾悄然来袭，可你那乐观坚毅令人动容，每一次治疗的痛苦，你都暗自承受，却总是安慰家人“别担心”。
 
      数月时光，你与病魔顽强抗争，病房里的你，还想着病好后继续学业、游历山河。如今，你的笑声已逝，却留温暖长存。舅舅深知，你只是先行去往无忧之地，愿天堂再无病痛，一路繁花相送，你永远活在我们心间，安息吧，可爱的天使！

       花季年华，你总是如阳光下的蝴蝶，飞舞在人间的花丛中，带来大家无数的欢乐。我笑你总说孩子话，却不曾想胶质瘤的阴影已在你颅骨里织网，可恨病魔选错了对象！可叹医学还无法无边！！

       你忍着疾病的痛苦，却总想把美好的的祝福带给人间！纵使最后一幅画里所有翅膀都裂成两半，你却笑着说要分一半春天给故乡长汀的窗棂。昨夜风雨打碎你窗台的玻璃罐，那些你救过的蝴蝶突然全活了，磷粉在月光里拼出十九道年轮。

      窗外的桃花正在飘絮，我替你拾起一穗沾露的，恍惚看见穿白裙的少女正仰头追逐光影。原来你早把自己炼成了永恒的标本，薄如蝉翼的灵魂永远停在振翅的刹那——向左是人间四月芳菲尽，向右是天堂花园永无冬。

I had the privilege of working with Shelley at the OHS for a number of years in our Writing and Tutoring Center.  I was able to get to know her better through a long series of conversations we had as she prepared her university applications. These talks were a wonderful experience for me as I had a chance to learn more about the joys and sadness that she had experienced in her life.   I also came to appreciate the kindness in her heart and the thoughtful approach that she had to people and existence itself. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family, particularly her older sister and mother. She loved you deeply.

Dear Shelley,

You were one of the brightest people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. Not (just) in an intellectual way, but in how you spread light everywhere you went. Around you, people found themselves more excited to exist. I’ve never met anyone who helped others with the consistency and care with which you did, going out of your way to lend a hand even when people didn’t know that they needed it. You brought so much beauty into the world.

I knew you from online school, and while we only met in person a few times, I’m thankful for every one. After dinner with you in Vancouver, my friend and I talked about you for months; you were such a grounding and welcoming presence. Grad, the Monterey trip, that rainbow hat, DFRL. 

Thank you for being you. I was so lucky to have had you in my life, as was everyone who got to meet you. You are loved.

My deepest condolences to your family and loved ones.

Shelle, I had so much fun. Thanks for all the memories! I hope we meet again in another life, rest in peace.

Dear Shelle,

My heart goes out to all of your family and friends. I wish I knew you earlier. 

I know that we didn’t know each other for long, but you were one of the most passionate and kind people I had the privilege of meeting. You seemed to be interested in every topic — from art and history to engineering and science, it was heartwarming to hear you yap about your countless passions and plans. I had so much fun visiting the Royal Ontario Museum with you and getting bubble tea afterwards. Despite only just meeting you, I loved hearing your stories and was grateful I found someone with so much to talk about in university. I still remember the galleries and exhibits we visited at the museum, and how fascinated we were by the Egyptian and Greek artifacts. I still remember our conversations about our families, our passions, our plans, and so much more.

We hung out once more at the expensive (but delicious) chocolate shop near Spadina and King after you started treatment and before you returned to Vancouver. I remember browsing their shelves and ordering hot chocolate and truffles with you, and then we sat down with our sweets in the back of the shop and just talked for literal hours. I remember us talking about how Toronto transit is terrible, how you prefer Toronto because of its cultural atmosphere, how your sister is very into health and fitness, how you plan to bake sweets to sell in front of elementary schools in Vancouver (an absolutely fire idea), how you want to explore Europe and other places in the next few years, and all your other plans for when you got back to Vancouver, and so much more. 

These hangouts will always live in my mind as some of the most fun I had in Toronto. You are one of the most positive and passionate people I have ever met, and know that you will always be in my heart and that I will always cherish the memories of you and the time we spent together.

Goodbye Shelley, 

You were the light of my high school years. Meeting you during S@S 2022 was one of the best things to happen to me. Thank you for being the kindest, most caring, most joyful person. Thank you for reaching out to me over and over again, even during your own stressful times or when things were tough.

You are the most beautiful, most wonderful, most capable and talented person I have and likely will ever know. No matter what time it was, you were always there for me, with your ever-present and ever-reliable reassurance, kindness, humor, vibrance, empathy, and encouragement.

I will forever cherish the memories we have together; I just wish there were more.

Dear Shelley:

Although you have left this world, your love and light will forever remain in our hearts. You were always a person full of faith, kindness, and compassion, and you viewed the world with a unique appreciation for its beauty and grace. Whenever we think of you, we will always remember your warm smile, selfless heart, and the way you saw the world through such a beautiful lens.

I will always cherish the memories of the times we shared, especially when you enjoyed the chicken wings I made for you. It was such a simple, yet meaningful moment, reflecting the joy you brought to those around you. I also fondly remember the times when you were little, skating with my daughter. You were so lively and full of joy, your energy contagious, and your laughter was so pure. Your playful, sometimes funny childlike words always brought a smile to everyone around you.

Your unwavering faith in Jesus was reflected in every act of care and kindness you showed to others. Though you have left us, we know that you have returned to the embrace of the Lord, where you will continue to experience His love and grace. We will cherish your memory and continue to live our lives with faith, love, and the same appreciation for the beauty of the world that you carried with you.

Shelley was an exceedingly kind and vivacious student. Her smiling face and cheerful enthusiasm brought a rare sense of warmth to our Adobe Connect classroom. Shelley was passionate about learning and unafraid to take intellectual risks in her analysis. Above all, Shelley was a wonderful person who took an active interest in the lives of not only her classmates, but her instructors, too. I am deeply saddened to know that Shelley is no longer with us and her loss is felt profoundly within the OHS community.

I offer my most sincere condolences to Shelley’s family. It was a privilege to have known and taught her.

Shelley was kind. She’d always go out of her way to help with anything, anytime, anywhere. I remember countless nights where she’d rapidly finish her homework and leap onto a call; eyes shining with excitement and her mind whirling like a storm. She had the wisdom of a wise old man on a mountain, but with a livelier personality than anyone I’ve ever known. 
Shelley was full of life. She seemed to find the most in every single day. Everything she did, she imbued with such an incredible enthusiasm, optimism, and joy. When she gave advice, she was passionate and considerate, when she told her stories, she was delighted and energetic. It felt like she appreciated even her bad days, even when drowning in homework she remained so so excited for the fun stuff she could do after. She faced her diagnosis with bravery and dedication; she resolved to make the most out of her time. Talking to Shelley was rejuvenating, her cheerfulness just spread to everything she was near. Each and every call was a treasure.
Shelley was brilliant, sunny, talented, hardworking, fun, every positive adjective under the sun wouldn’t really be enough. She did it all, and she did it with such liveliness and joy. 
Thank you for the advice, thank you for the memories, thank you for all those long calls, thank you for being my friend. You are wonderful, you are inspiring. We miss you Shelley.

Shelley was always super ahead of her game. Always taking it one step further and doing beyond what was expected. Every time I meet her I can see that determination no matter what we were doing. It could’ve been a simple game at the elementary school park but we always had that fun competitive energy going between the two of us, pushing one another to be better. I wish her the happiest joy ever. Rest in peace Shelley🤍🤍🤍

My heart has been so heavy since the news of Shelley’s passing. To think that we walked the graduation stage—excited to leave online high school and start our college lives at REAL school—only last June devastates me. 

A few days before graduation I hosted a party at my home in san francisco (photo above) for our senior class and was excited when Shelley told me she’d be coming. She had texted to ask if she could store her luggage in my room as she’d be coming straight from the airport—a testament to her dedication and sociability. Shelley if two classmates that I hadn't yet met could attend my party as well. I'll be forever grateful for her thoughtfulness to include and the opportunity she gave us to connect with others. 

Last August I received a picture from Shelley: a selfie of her and my childhood best friend. I knew they were both going to UofT but had no idea that they were in the same EngSci program or would even cross paths in such a large school. What a coincidence that she and my dearest friend would be in the same orientation group across the country. I was excited for them to become better friends; I knew they’d get along. Throughout college we reached out to each other, trying our best to keep in touch amidst busy lives. This is how I’ll remember Shelley—considerate, kind, inclusive, a connector, and a friend.

For all of us her passing is a harsh reminder of the fragility and unfairness of life. I find myself wondering how the world could be so unbelievably cruel. This sense of helplessness can consume us at times, but I know Shelley would want to be remembered for better things. In the classroom, she was a brilliantly and inquisitive student. I am incredibly lucky to have taken classes with her throughout the years. In person, Shelley's sweet demeanor, her grace, her humor, her passion for learning, and excitement for the future could not be missed. My heart hurts knowing she is no longer in this world. Shelley, you will be so deeply missed.

I had the good luck to teach Shelley at the OHS. She was just an effervescent ball of energy--so smart and self-deprecatingly funny.  I am gutted to think that she is gone. Shelley was one of the first friends I met at UofT.  At the time I was so worried about moving far away from home, but we took on the Skule hunt together and I will never forget her dedication--putting slimy plastic bags on her hands and doing a walking handstand around the pit (which she did twice, to prove to the judges it was legit). I laughed so hard I forgot I was nervous. It was a joy to see her around campus and say hi. I am devastated. Shelley, we are less hopeful, smart, joyful, and passionate without you. We miss you.

I was Shelley's classmate and friend at the University of Toronto, and I had the privilege of working with her on several occasions. When we first met, we discussed how to learn 3D modeling, and she immediately impressed me as intelligent, mature and inquisitive. Her sense of humour and caring shone through when we talked about her adorable bunny Gingerbread. All throughout, she kept her unwavering professionalism and cheerful attitude. I could not have asked for a better peer.

Rest in peace, Shelley. On behalf of the Engineering Science Class of 2T8, we will never forget you.

Shelley was one of the kindest and most generous people I had the privilege of meeting. Though our time together was brief, as I was a year below her in school, her warmth and selflessness left a lasting impression on me. As a peer tutor, she never simply gave answers—she guided me with patience, always ensuring I understood. But more than that, she treated me like a friend from the very start, with a kindness that felt effortless and genuine.

Shelley was a fiercely passionate, brilliant force of nature. I first met Shelley in a children’s choir, although our families had known each other well before. Since then, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have known her as a great friend. Words cannot describe the sadness I feel, and my heart goes out to her family in this extremely difficult time.

Shelley had the drive to change the world and the unique talent to match it. Whether we were goofing around after rehearsal, debating deep philosophical ideas at holiday gatherings, or writing poetry together, Shelley’s contagious laughter, indomitable strength, and refreshing creativity was truly one of a kind. In the Future Science Leaders program, I was always inspired by her unbounded passion for science’s power to change lives. She was also a remarkable writer and creative spirit, with a keen appreciation for the beauty of life. Shelley once shared with me a sonnet she penned about a blue jay landing in her garden. It begins:

“On a sweet, serene morning
One little blue jay flew, 
Without even a warning 
Into our garden’s bloom.
Had dark eyes so fascinating
It cleared the early gloom,
A statue that was so charming
It was a pity it hid so soon.”

Shelley, this world was robbed of you far too soon. Your clarity and resilience continue to inspire; you have been a light in so many lives. Wherever you are hiding now, I hope you know that you were so loved, and I miss you. Thank you for flying into my life; rest in peace my friend.

Shelley was a truly amazing and wonderful person. I met her at Summer at Stanford in 2022 and the thing that I will remember most about her was her unwavering kindness and love for her friends. She supported everyone and made everyone around her feel special, embracing the lonely, reaching out to those who needed it, and above all, doing more than anyone to foster an amazing community for me and everyone else who was lucky enough to be able to call her a friend. Her hilarious but yet simultaneously wise advice on everything from relationships to moral philosophy, her brilliance as a fellow student (especially in our Math Class), her outstanding dodgeball skills, and her bold, kind values as a leader and as a friend were inspiring. Rest in peace, Shelley, sending love and prayers your way. You will always be in the memory of me and everyone else who was blessed to know you.

I had the privilege of knowing Shelley as a friend, classmate, and volunteer instructor at my nonprofit organization, where she went by Ms. J. One of the qualities that I admire most about Shelley is her undeniably radiant kindness. Shelley possessed a softness to her that invited people in, especially young children. 

During her time volunteering at Hello Languages, I got to see her nurture and inspire younger students from all around the world through the computer screen. Even without looking at her name on our scheduling sheet, I knew which classes were hers because they were always outside of the box. 

A class of hers that I attended that will always remain a special memory was titled, "Empathy and Point of View." She decided to take on the hard task of teaching English learners ranging from ages 2-10 the art of being empathetic and understanding different perspectives. When I told her that the class may be a bit hard for some of the students, she smiled big and said, "Children are smarter than we think!" 

What an honor to know such a pure, loving soul. Ms. J, thank you for inspiring me and countless others. Until we meet again.

Shelley was an amazing friend and suppprter in my life. She was so intelligent, so happy, and suvh a source of safety and inspiration - truly a wonderful person.

Having attended an online high school with Shelley, I've only been able to spend a total of five or six days in-person together with her. Most of our friendship blossomed over platforms like Skype, FaceTime, and Discord voice calls. Still, I can say, without a doubt, that Shelley was one of the greatest friends I've ever had and certainly one of the most remarkable people I've ever met. Each of my memories of her seem to just highlight the limitless heights of her being to me. She was driven, curious, hilarious, infectiously optimistic, and uncommonly wise. So, I am deeply saddened that she is gone, and though no words can ease the pain of her loss, I offer my sincerest condolences to Shelley's family and her loved ones. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Shelley was one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. She was my roommate at Summer at Stanford in 2022, and that’s where I first befriended one of the most genuine and fun people I’ve ever met. I’m so glad that I got to have the time with her at graduation, Summer at Stanford, and on the senior trip to Monterey, and I am thankful for every moment that I got to spend with her. I will deeply miss this kind, compassionate, fun, and truly amazing person. Shelley will leave a big hole, but her spirit, humor, and kindness will shine brightly no matter what. She was and is so loved. Thank you, Shelley, for being an amazing friend.

Shelley was an incredibly positive, thoughtful, vibrant, and kind friend. Night or day, rain or shine, no matter what happened, she always saw the silver lining in every situation. In our many study calls, she transformed stress and anxiety into fuel for deep conversations, hopeful aspirations, and lots of giggly jokes. Her ability to offer profound philosophical insights while being a whimsical goofball never ceased to amaze me. I’ll never forget all those late night show binging sessions where we’d be emoting wildly over a cool character in one scene and debating the ethical implications of their actions in the next. We created so many positive memories together, there’s so much I want to say but no words will truly encapsulate the impact she has had on me and all of my love for her. Her enthusiasm and appreciation for all the big and little things in life was infinitely inspiring. I will carry her memory with me and embrace each and every day in front of me, just as she did. I’m glad to have been able to call her my friend. 

Fly high Shelley, I know you’ll always be the coolest gal in town no matter where you are. I love you.

I was someone who had the privilege of knowing Shelley in High School, and sharing a couple classes with her. She was such lovely person through and through. Before she graduated, we shared our contact information with the intention of staying in touch. 

To Shelley: Thank you for being an amazing friend and classmate. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, your sweet nature, and your sense of humor. 

To Shelley's Family: I wish you all the ease possible in your time of hardship. Shelley will be missed, but from all my interactions with her, I am sure she will be remembered for all the qualities we aspire to be: insightful, genuine, and kindhearted. Shelley was one of the most brilliant, kind, and thoughtful people that I have ever known. She was incredibly observant, wise, and always knew what to say, and my conversations with her are something I'll treasure forever. She could cheer anyone up, and I have so much respect and love for how she always made a point to show appreciation for her friends, whether it be through writing uplifting and genuine birthday messages or talking about anything and everything. I have never met anyone who was as consistently positive, joyful, and considerate as Shelley, and even when dealing with her illness, she was the bravest person I knew. Shelley was a bright and thoughtful soul, someone who saw the world with both deep curiosity and such kindness. Shelley was one of the first friends I made in university, and she was immediately so kind and welcoming. I remember at the end of our first day of university, she stayed back to audit another program’s lecture, and encouraged me to stay back as well. Her intelligence and her true passion for learning shone through, and were an inspiration to myself and others. She was also very brave and always had a positive outlook on life, even throughout her illness, and I’m so grateful to have known someone like her. Although I only met her a few months ago, it feels like I’ve known her much longer because of her warm personality. I’m glad we got to have a few adventures together, and I’ll cherish those memories forever. I will miss Shelley dearly, and I’m offering my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace.

I remember during prom night Shelly wore flats instead of heels and danced the night away. I complimented that she looked comfortable in those shoes. She smiled and replied that she was there to have fun and dance. This joyful way of living could also be seen by the photos she posted on social media. Whether the photos were of the aurora borealis or sunlight shining upon a radiant scene of flowers and trees, these photos illuminated Shelly’s perspective and I looked forward to those beautiful photos. I remember that Shelly and I led the Asian and Pacific American Student Union our last year of high school, where we discussed and guided discussions in club meeting with OHS students on Asian experiences in various places around the world. We then met for the first time when Shelly had just gotten off the plane and was carrying her luggage to a pre-graduation party hosted by a friend who was also graduating in 2024. As many from OHS will know, it was a delightful experience to go from seeing a person in a small pixel screen to being in the presence of the person, of Shelly, in-person. For these moments, I’m forever grateful to have known Shelly. My and my mom’s hearts go out to Shelly, her family, and her friends. May she rest peacefully in heaven.

Dear Shelley,

While I only had the opportunity to know you towards the end of your life, you made an unforgettable impression as one of the first friendly faces that I encountered at UofT. I pray that your soul may be comfortably at peace, finding reprieve from the living world. Maybe in another life we were able to go to that Moonbyul concert together and take those ghost photos in the Toronto streets.

Shelley was one of the first friends that I have made in the University of Toronto. She was friendly, warm-hearted, always fun to talk to and enthusiastic about the future to come. As a new-comer to this completely strange city, her passion was really inspiring and encouraging to me. Shelley and I met during University, and in such a short while, she made it clear that she was an extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, and well-rounded person. Shelley was an amazing person and friend, always spreading kindness and joy wherever she went. I got the opportunity to lead the APPASU club with her at OHS. She always had wonderful ideas of what events to do , always finding a way to make me laugh whenever we talked and cheering me up when she noticed I was sad. She taught me so much whether it was about school or something else.  I will truly miss the days when we called one another for hours, when we updated each other on what we were up to or just simply hanging out.  My sincere condolences to her friends and family. In Loving Memory of a Beautiful Soul

I met Shelly and her parents at the Stanford Guest House. My child and Shelly took a photo together during that visit. The following year, I had the opportunity to see Shelly again when I dropped my child off at an event hosted by OHS kids at her home in San Francisco.

Shelly was a truly sweet, kind, and elegant young girl. She was a gentle spirit who has now returned to God and is resting peacefully. She will always be remembered by us as an angel in heaven, in this whirlwind of a world. The poetry reflect the empathy we feel for Shelly, her family, and all who have been a part of her life.

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love

Getting to know Shelley during my time as her college counselor was a highlight in my career. She was not only a thoughtful, spirited person but a brilliant writer, a philosopher, and a remarkable mathematician. Our meetings were often full of deep conversations about life and goals she had, punctuated with bouts of laughter when things got too serious. I will remain forever thankful that I was able to get to know her. May her memory be a blessing.

I had the good fortune to teach Shelley twice while she was in high school, once when she was a sophomore and once when she was a senior.  In both classes, her thoughtful, engaged presence brought so much to our groups.  Shelley asked deep and genuine questions, thought through ideas from every angle, and used her essays to interrogate her own beliefs.  Among her many artistic and intellectual talents, Shelley was a keen philosopher, and I wish she had had the chance to bring her deeply humane and fiercely principled approach to her chosen field of engineering.  I will miss knowing that she is in the world, working to make it better.

Shelley is one of the most kindhearted, spirited, loving, intelligent, creative, and passionate individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

She was a true best friend and a constant inspiration. Her unwavering optimism and curiosity were such a gift to those around her. There’s not a single room that wasn’t brightened by her smile. She always looked on the bright side, and her glass was not just half full but overflowing with rainbows. She was truly so strong despite all the challenges in her life, and she had so much wisdom for such a young age. In her, all that strength and courage turned into kindness and determination beyond measure. 

Her deep philosophical mind and intellectual vitality were all powered by love. For her family, her friends, and the world. She always put others first - taking time out of her day to make little gifts and food for those she loved. Even during her illness we had made plans to uplift and inform other women and cancer patients - a mission I’ll carry forward for her. 

I’ll never forget all the conversations we had, the meals we cooked together, and the places we travelled. Her love for life powers me to be better, gentler, and more joyful each and every day.
